The Siekoo Alphabet (cc)

Siekoo Alphabet
Siekoo [phonetic notation Se-koh: ˈsiː koː], the 7-Segment Writing by Alexander Fakoó

The Siekoo Alphabet uses the well-known 7-segment display to realize a confusion-free alpha-numeric text representation by assigning separate segment combinations to all letters and numbers.

When assigning possible segment combinations to the individual numbers or letters, care was taken to ensure that  no double meanings as a letter  and  number  occur.

Siekoo alphabet including numbers in two lines

However, since the appearance of the digits is fixed, the letters of it had to receive different combinations. Here you see the comparison of easily confused letters and numbers:

Number 0 segments 123456 Letter o segments 3457
Number 1 segments 23 Letter i segments 15
Number 2 segments 12457 Letter z segments 1245
Number 5 segments 13467 Letter s segments 1346
Number 6 segments 134567 Letter g segments 13456
Number 8 segments 1234567 Letter b segments 34567

Problematic letters were formed with an upper or an underscore, here in comparison:

Letter n segments 357 Letter m segments 1357
Letter u segments 345 Letter w segments 2467
Letter h segments 3567 Letter k segments 13567
Letter x segments 35 Letter v segments 246

To get an impression of readability, here is a text in Siekoo:

excerpt 'A seven-segment display is a display element made up of seven separately switchable, visible bars. The seven segments are arranged as a rectangle of two vertical segments on each side with one horizontal segment on the top, middle, and bottom. The segments are clockwise referred to by the letters A to G.' from Wikipedia, display in Siekoo

The uniqueness of the characters can also be used to represent passwords and the like:

password: g¯vk2¯d7s¯u

Uppercase letters are displayed by the macro character , so the password is gVk2D7sU

If the 7-segment characters are detectable tactile, the Siekoo alphabet can also be used for blind people.

Sample of a tactile use of the Siekoo alphabet:
as a relief font, the siekoo-alphabet has the advantage that it is easy to learn and quickly read due to its well-known structure.
